Yami Gautam on ‘filmy love story’

Speaking about the love stories she grew up watching, Yami said, “Watching your films, we would feel that this is what a love story should be like. Every girl dreams of something like that, a ‘palat, palat’ moment! But in reality, one thing Aditya and I have in common is that we are both very reserved, completely non-dramatic people.”

Yami Gautam and Aditya Dhar’s love story

Yami and Aditya tied the knot in a hush-hush wedding on June 4, 2021, in Himachal Pradesh. On Kon Honar Crorepati, she recalled meeting the Dhurandhar director on the sets of Uri, in which he directed her. According to Yami, they did not speak much during the shoot, and the film’s promotions gave her a chance to know him better. Listening to his answers during group interviews, she began recognising their shared values.

She shared, “Our first meeting was on the set of Uri. We didn’t speak much on the film set, but during promotions, you listen to everyone’s answers. That was when I felt that here was someone whose core values and family values were very similar to mine. That is something I really loved about Aditya. On set, I had already seen the kind of person he is, and that is very rare to find. He never got angry with anyone, respected everyone, and was very passionate and very centred.”

Madhuri added, “Just like you.” Reflecting on finding a partner who shares her outlook, Yami added, “If you find that kind of partner, it is a very big thing. I’m very lucky to have him as my husband.”
