Amargarh MLA Jaswant Singh Gajjan Majra inaugurated power transmission modernisation and strengthening projects worth nearly Rs 24 crore during a function held at the Ahmedgarh Division Punjab State Power Corporation Limited office on Pohir Road near here on Tuesday.
Superintending Engineer Amandeep Singh Khangura chaired the function, conducted under supervision of SDO Gagan Deep Bindal. Municipal Council chief Vikas Krishan Sharma and market committee chairman Kanwaljit Singh Ubhi were the guests of honour on the occasion.
Addressing a gathering of consumers after the inauguration Gajjan Majra said Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Power Minister Sanjiv Arora had drafted a plan for further strengthening the power supply management for all categories of consumers, including domestic and industrial sectors.
He said the commissioning of a Rs 23.5-crore project for bifurcating Anand Isher feeder and Gaushala feeder, besides laying of the double transmission line from Kup Grid to Ahmedgarh Grid, would benefit hundreds of domestic and commercial units by reducing the load on transformers and conductors.
SE Amandeep Singh Khangura said that apart from the main project, infrastructural works worth Rs 5.5 crore had also been started with the intent to improve the quality and quantity of power supply in the region.
Khangura claimed that following the completion of the project, the existing 20 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA) transformer running at Ahmedgarh Grid would be 31.5 MVA.
