Anirudh Hails Rajinikanth Ahead of ‘Jailer 2’ Release: ‘At 76, He Still Creates Magic and Rewrites History’

Music director Anirudh Ravichander has praised Superstar Rajinikanth ahead of the worldwide release of director Nelson Dilipkumar’s eagerly awaited action entertainer Jailer 2 on Thursday, saying the veteran actor continues to create magic and rewrite history at the age of 76.

Taking to his X timeline to share his thoughts on the upcoming film, Anirudh wrote, “For generations, he has given us happiness, laughter, goosebumps and memories for a lifetime. At 76 and for the past 51 years, he still creates magic and rewrites history.”

He added, “Tomorrow, once again for the 172nd time, the lights will dim, the screens will ignite and hopefully with all your wishes, the world will witness the love for a man who lives in the hearts of every Indian. One Sun. One Moon. And One 🙂 #Jailer2 from tomo!”

The music director also tagged Rajinikanth, director Nelson Dilipkumar and production house Sun Pictures in his post.

The film has already been cleared by the Censor Board with a U/A certificate, adding to the anticipation among fans and film enthusiasts. Sun Pictures, which is producing the project, recently announced the certification on its social media accounts, posting, “#Jailer2 is censored U/A!”

The makers had also recently unveiled the film’s trailer, which has generated considerable excitement among fans.

The trailer opens with a character played by actor Suraj Venjaramoodu questioning a hostage about whether he has learnt anything about the person responsible for the developments unfolding around them. The hostage responds, “Not just me, even you won’t be able to find him.”

The sequence establishes a mystery surrounding the identity of the person behind the events, with both Venjaramoodu’s character and several villains trying to figure out who is pulling the strings.

Rajinikanth then appears as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, the central character of the film.

At one point, a frustrated Venjaramoodu is seen asking his accomplices, “Have you managed to find him or not?”

The trailer briefly suggests that Tiger Muthuvel Pandian has gone into hiding before revealing that he has deliberately gone off the radar by posing as a driver. His objective is to determine whether the chain of command among the villains extends to someone even more powerful.

The trailer also reveals that Tiger has used snipers to attack his enemies. One of the characters, played by S.J. Suryah, indicates that the opposing side can respond in kind.

Another notable moment features a conversation between Rajinikanth’s character and Vidya Balan’s character. When she asks whether he would like tea or coffee, he politely declines. She responds, “The choice is between tea or coffee. It is not between whether to drink or not.”

In another scene, Tiger is warned about the dreaded “Kalpaks”, who are said to leave no one alive. Responding with a smile, he says, “Oh dear, I didn’t know. Shall we see?”

Tiger later directly warns the Kalpaks, contrasting their traditional methods of terror with a more modern approach to eliminating enemies.

“All this is the style employed in the time of your father. Now, getting all your enemies to one place and bombing that place is what is the present trend,” he tells them.

Jailer 2 is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 15, 2026. The project has generated considerable expectations since it was first announced.

In April this year, the makers announced that filming had been completed and shared photographs of a cake-cutting ceremony held to mark the wrap-up of the shoot.
