Amit Shah Rips Into Rahul Gandhi Over SIR Row, Predicts Crushing Defeat For Congress in 2029

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday predicted that the Congress would suffer a fourth consecutive defeat in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, accusing Rahul Gandhi of blaming the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls for his party’s electoral setbacks.

Taking a swipe at Gandhi’s ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ outreach, Shah said, “You can no longer gain the trust of the people by fabricating media events and ‘Jhooth Ki Goonj’.”

Shah urged the Congress to introspect instead of questioning electoral processes after repeated defeats. He also accused Rahul Gandhi of failing to connect with voters.

“I want to tell Rahul Gandhi and his colleagues to once again prepare for a crushing defeat in the 2029 general elections. The NDA is set to win with a landslide majority and the Congress is set to lose for the fourth consecutive time,” he said.

Shah’s remarks came after the BJP won 90 of 104 seats across three urban local bodies in Gujarat. In the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation, the BJP secured 38 of 44 seats, while the Congress won five and an independent candidate took one. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) failed to win any of the 32 seats it contested.

Shah also cited election results in other states to counter allegations concerning voter lists and EVMs, pointing to the BJP’s performance in Tripura’s local polls conducted using ballot papers.

Accusing the Congress of having limited grassroots reach, Shah said the party could not claim to represent the country through protests in Delhi. He also alleged that Rahul Gandhi was attempting to protect infiltrators amid the debate over the SIR exercise.
