Malavika Mohanan Calls Herself a ‘Closeted Island Girl’ as She Overcomes Fear of the Ocean

Actress Malavika Mohanan has revealed how she is gradually overcoming her fear of the ocean, describing herself as a “closeted island girl” as her fascination with marine life grows.

On Tuesday, the Master actress shared beach photographs on Instagram and said she had spent the past few days swimming in the ocean, snorkelling for hours and excitedly spotting fish.

“I was genuinely scared of reef sharks at first (because sharks), and now I find myself looking for them every time I’m in the water. Slowly getting over my fear of the ocean, bit by bit, and getting more and more fascinated by this whole world beneath the surface… Who knew I was a closeted island girl,” she wrote.

On the work front, Malavika recently wrapped up the shoot for Pocket Novel, co-starring Vijay Sethupathi. She also shared an emotional note thanking the film’s team and praising Sethupathi for being a caring and encouraging co-star.

Recalling their earlier films, Petta and Master, Malavika said they had not shared screen space in those projects, making their collaboration on Pocket Novel long-awaited. She thanked Sethupathi for creating a comfortable environment that allowed her to explore her role and perform at her best.
