MS Dhoni to Mumbai Indians?: Fans left stunned as CSK legend spotted in MI jersey

New Delhi: Fans had a hard time believing their eyes as MS Dhoni was spotted in a Mumbai Indians (MI) jersey. The former India captain, who plays for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and is a bonafide legend of the franchise, was seen wearing an MI training jersey in a picture shared by entrepreneur Arjun Vaidya.

In the picture, which was possibly taken after a football game, Dhoni can be seen posing with a group next to a football pitch. “Football game with MS”, Vaidya captioned the picture. Fans were quick to notice that Dhoni was wearing an MI training jersey as the picture went viral on social media in no time, sparking buzz.

While CSK fans were left stunned, witnessing their franchise legend wearing a rival team jersey, some Mumbai Indians fans rejoiced that Dhoni sported their jersey off the field. The picture also led to speculations about a potential transfer for Dhoni from CSK to their arch-rivals Mumbai Indians, however, there is little truth in those rumours.

Amid speculation over his future in the IPL, Dhoni continues to remain coy over his plans for the next season. The legendary wicket-keeper batter was retained as an ‘uncapped player’ for Rs 4 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Despite turning 44, Dhoni continues to go strong for CSK and remains a vital cog in the team.

Dhoni replaced Ruturaj Gaikwad as CSK’s captain midway through the season in IPL 2025 after an injury to the star batter. However, despite his return as captain, CSK endured a disastrous campaign and failed to make it to the playoffs. The franchise is expected to rebuild their squad in the upcoming auction ahead of IPL 2026.
