The Election Commission of India (ECI) has released the final voter list for Punjab after completing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.
The list, published on Monday, October 12, shows that more than 13.60 lakh names have been removed from the electoral rolls, while nearly eight lakh new voters have been added.
The revised list covers all 117 Assembly constituencies in Punjab. The state had 2,14,61,043 registered voters before the revision. That number now stands at 2,01,00,727.
According to the figures released by the Election Commission, 13,60,316 names were deleted during the exercise, while 7,97,263 voters were added to the list.
Punjab was included in the third phase of the SIR exercise for 2026. The revision began on June 25, following the Election Commission’s directions and a notification issued on May 14.
Notices Sent To More Than 35 Lakh Voters
During the revision process, notices were issued to 35,49,036 voters for verification. Of these, 86,038 people were declared ineligible after the verification process and the issuance of speaking orders, according to the official figures.
The final list has more voters than the draft electoral roll published earlier. The draft list contained 1,93,94,435 voters, while the final count has increased to 2,01,00,727, a rise of 3.64 per cent.
The final electoral roll includes 1,03,76,026 male voters and 97,24,195 female voters. Another 506 voters are registered under the third gender category.
The Election Commission has also increased the number of polling stations across Punjab. Following a review of polling station arrangements in all districts, the total number has gone up from 24,453 to 25,332.
How To Register As A Voter In Punjab
People who are eligible to vote but cannot find their names in the final list can apply for registration by submitting Form 6. The same form can be used by those registering as voters for the first time.
Applications can be submitted online through the Election Commission’s app or offline through the respective Booth Level Officer (BLO).
With the Punjab Assembly elections expected early next year, voters are advised to check their names in the final electoral roll and complete the registration process if required.
