As reported earlier, the makers of Fauji requested director Sandeep Reddy Vanga to postpone Spirit and allow Prabhas’ other film to arrive in theatres first. After consulting Prabhas, Vanga has reportedly agreed to the request.
Spirit was originally scheduled for release on March 5, 2027, targeting the Ramzan festive season. However, the film is now likely to be postponed, with the makers considering two alternative release windows.
The first option is the Dasara festive season in 2027. While Dasara is a major box-office period in the Telugu states, it does not carry the same significance in the North Indian market.
The other option is December 2027, a month that has worked well for both Prabhas and Vanga.
Prabhas scored a major success with Salaar, which was released in December 2023. Vanga also delivered the blockbuster Animal in the same month.
Given this track record, the makers may consider December 2027 a favourable release window for Spirit.
Around 50 per cent of the film’s shooting has reportedly been completed. Prabhas plays an ex-cop who takes on a drug cartel in this crime drama. It marks the first time in his career that he is playing a police officer.
Triptii Dimri plays the female lead, marking her Telugu debut.
T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures are jointly producing the film, with Harshavardhan Rameshwar composing the music.
An official announcement regarding the revised release date is awaited.
