Volvo is known to make some of the safest cars on the planet. Today, the Swedish carmaker revealed two new models, both familiar to the Indian market. We are talking about the all-new EX90 and ES90. Of the two, the EX90 launched today at Rs. 1.26 crore (introductory ex-showroom). The ES90 will be launched in the coming months. Here’s what these new models offer.

India’s Safest Luxury SUV Launched
As the name suggests, the EX90 is the all-electric version of the flagship XC90 SUV. But those looking for a petrol-powered model need not worry – for now, Volvo will sell the EX90 and XC90 side by side. The XC90 is getting old, and the EX90 is the perfect solution – modern styling and many more features. This also comes at a hefty price – the EX90 is about Rs. 27 lakh more expensive than its petrol sibling.
The introductory price is applicable till 31st December, 2026. For these customers, Volvo is also offering a bundle that includes an 11 kW home charger, a 3-year service package, and an assured buyback (65% of ex-showroom value/three years) included in the car’s price.
Here’s what the EX90 brings to the table.

What All Does It Offer?
On performance, the EX90 comes with a single 106 kWh battery pack and a dual-motor setup (AWD). The power and torque figures are about 456 bhp and 670 Nm, respectively. As a full-size electric SUV, the EX90 weighs over 2,500 kg, but its strong output lets it hit 0-100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 180 km/h. The WLTP-claimed range is around 625 km, so you can expect the real-world figure to be closer to 550-575 km.
Volvo EX90 Features
Most would assume the EX90 is a 7-seater, but it is actually a 6-seater with captain seats in the second row. Unlike the front seats, they are not powered and lack ventilation, heating, or massage functions. Rear occupants also don’t get sunshades. To remedy this, the huge panoramic sunroof comes with adjustable transparency.

The SUV also offers good practicality for Indian conditions, with 210 mm ground clearance. The EX90 comes standard with adjustable air suspension, which can raise ground clearance to 250 mm.
Like the exterior, the EX90’s interior is very clean and minimal – you will rarely find any physical buttons or knobs. Most in-car controls are managed through the huge 14.5-inch portrait-style infotainment screen.

The EX90’s feature list includes a four-zone climate control, a 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system, ambient lighting (adjustable), nine airbags, comprehensive Level-2 ADAS, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree camera, auto park assist, a digital key, a wireless charging pad, a cabin air purifier, and more.
