Insights from Ranveer Allahbadia’s Podcast

During her engaging chat with Ranveer Allahbadia, Ektaa Kapoor delved into her motivation for greenlighting the sequel. She clarified that the original The Dirty Picture was inspired by the life of the late South Indian actress Silk Smitha, a woman often “condemned for standing up against her sexuality.” However, Kapoor emphasised her personal perspective: “I never saw her as a victim. I saw her as someone who celebrated her sexuality, and the film did so well.”

Kapoor indicated that the sequel would uphold this spirit, once again focusing on an individual’s life and exploring themes of sexuality and freedom of choice in contemporary contexts. While details regarding the specific lead character, the cast, director, and official release date remain under wraps, Kapoor hinted that a major announcement with more specifics would follow, building immense anticipation for what promises to be another bold cinematic venture.
