The Australian cricket team is set to wear a special white jersey during the 150th Anniversary Test against England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in March 2026. This unique kit will prominently feature Australia’s traditional green and gold colors, commemorating this significant milestone in cricket history.
Cricket Australia unveiled the special kit on Monday, marking the launch exactly 150 days before the historic match, scheduled to begin on March 11. The design replaces the traditional golden wattle trim with a striking gold, while also incorporating a green plaque for added flair.
The sleeves of the jersey will showcase a special logo celebrating the 150th Anniversary Test, along with the emblem of the kit manufacturer, ASICS. Additionally, golden piping will adorn the collar, shirt, and side seams of the pants, while the buttons will also feature a golden finish. This thoughtful design aims to reflect the rich heritage of Australian cricket and the importance of the upcoming match.
Moreover, the kit mirrors the design worn by the Australian men’s team since the 2025-26 summer season. Notably, it includes tribal artwork created by renowned Aboriginal artist Auntie Fiona Clark on the shoulders. According to ‘cricket.com.au’, the artwork titled “Land and Sea” incorporates the “Walkabout Wickets” motif, paying homage to the Aboriginal Eleven, which was Australia’s first cricket team to tour overseas, making a historic visit to England in 1868.
Tickets for the first three days of the 150th Anniversary Test have already sold out. The match will be a day-night event, played with a pink ball. The Australian players are facing a busy schedule, with Pat Cummins’ team set to play 21 Test matches over the next 12 months. Currently, Australia is engaged in a three-match Test series in South Africa, and before returning for the anniversary match, they will host New Zealand for four Tests and then travel to India for a five-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy series.
