Such a case of negligence has come to light in a government hospital in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu, which everyone was stunned to hear. It is being told that the finger of a newborn baby was cut by the mistake of a nurse.
The incident took place on May 24, when Vimalraj, a resident of Mallipalayam, was admitted to his pregnant wife Nivetha at the hospital in Vellore. A few hours later, Nivetha gave birth to a son.
According to doctors, the amount of sugar in the child’s body was low, so he was being given glucose. Meanwhile, when a nurse was changing the place of glucose needle, he used scissors to cut the tape and accidentally cut the newborn finger. It is alleged that during this time the nurse was talking on mobile and was completely careless.
Accused of negligence
The victim father Vimalraj said that after the accident, he was not allowed to meet the child for about one and a half hours. He says that this is directly negligent and ignoring, which his child had to pay a heavy price.
The hospital administration was stirred up after the incident surfaced. The child was immediately referred to Stanley Hospital in Chennai for better treatment, where his condition is said to be stable at the moment.
District Magistrate ordered an inquiry
Vellore District Magistrate Subbulakshmi has ordered an inquiry into the case. He said, “If it was proved that the nurse was talking on the phone, she would be given the most strict punishment. Anyway there was no need for scissors in that process, it could be done by hand.”
