Shweta Bachchan Nanda once spoke about how the arrival of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan into the Bachchan family brought changes to its dynamics, explaining that roles naturally get reshuffled whenever a new member joins a family.
Shweta shared her views during an appearance on filmmaker Karan Johar’s popular chat show Koffee With Karan, where she appeared alongside her brother, actor Abhishek Bachchan.
During the conversation, Karan asked Abhishek how he had balanced emotions, practicality and family life after marrying Aishwarya, describing her as another superstar in the household. He also pointed out that her arrival must have brought changes to the family structure.
Abhishek responded casually, saying, “I don’t think so.”
Shweta, however, offered a different perspective, saying, “I feel whenever there is a new person in a family, whether it is a daughter-in-law, or even a child, roles do get reshuffled.”
Karan then highlighted how Shweta had previously been Abhishek’s go-to person as his sister, while Aishwarya was now his wife and a major star in her own right.
Responding to the observation, Shweta said the arrangement was a positive one, adding that having another person to rely on was better than having just one.
“Which is great, because it is better to have two hands than just one. She’s from his industry, so there are certain things she will understand; she will connect, she will understand as an actor, the hours he keeps,” Shweta said.
