Australian cricketer Matt Renshaw has eclipsed Virat Kohli’s record for the highest runs scored while batting with the tail in Test innings since 2002. In the ongoing Test match against South Africa in Durban, Renshaw achieved a personal best of 190 runs off 397 deliveries.
His remarkable innings included 174 runs scored while partnering with the lower order, surpassing Kohli’s previous record of 171 runs, which he set during his 235-run innings against England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai back in 2016, according to Cricinfo.
Key Partnerships Fuel Australia’s Total
Renshaw played a pivotal role in Australia’s innings, contributing 41 runs in an 86-run partnership with Pat Cummins, 12 runs in a 20-run stand with Mitchell Starc, 100 runs in a significant 134-run partnership with Nathan Lyon, and 21 runs alongside Josh Hazlewood in a 26-run partnership. His efforts helped Australia reach a total of 390 all out on Day 2 of the Test against South Africa at Kingsmead.

Entering the match at a challenging 124/6, Renshaw steadied the innings with a composed performance, hitting 21 boundaries and a six. He narrowly missed achieving his first Test double century before being dismissed by Simon Harmer. Renshaw received solid support from captain Pat Cummins, who scored 43 runs, and Nathan Lyon, who added 27 runs.
