Veteran actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha has extended birthday wishes to Bollywood star Rekha, describing her as an “epitome of elegance and style” and his “own, mystic, mysterious woman” as the celebrated actress turned 72 on Saturday.
Sinha shared a series of photographs on X, formerly Twitter, featuring moments from films and events they attended together. Alongside the pictures, he wished the evergreen actress happiness, abundant blessings and lasting well-being.
“Warm birthday wishes, many happy returns and joys of the day. Lots of love for our own, mystic, mysterious woman #Rekha. Epitome of elegance and style. May you be abundantly blessed with great well-being always. #BirthdayWishes,” Sinha wrote.
The two actors have worked together in several films, including Khoon Bhari Maang, Raampur Ka Lakshman, Do Yaar, Kashmakash, Muqabla and Chehre Pe Chehra.
Rekha remains one of the most recognisable names in Indian cinema, with a career spanning more than 200 films across multiple languages and genres. Known for her screen presence and versatility, she has portrayed a wide range of characters, including complex and strong-willed women in mainstream and independent productions.
Her journey as a leading actress began with the Kannada film Operation Jackpot Nalli C.I.D 999, while Sawan Bhadon marked her Hindi film debut. She gained wider recognition for her performances in Ghar and Muqaddar Ka Sikandar in 1978.
Over the years, Rekha has featured in films such as Baseraa, Ek Hi Bhool, Jeevan Dhaara, Agar Tum Na Hote, Kalyug, Vijeta, Utsav, Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi, Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love, Zubeidaa and Lajja.
Her accolades include a National Film Award, reflecting her contribution to Indian cinema. Rekha was last seen in a cameo appearance in the action comedy Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se.
