Madhuri Dixit Recalls Finding Director Crying on Trolley During Live Shot, Leaves Sonali Bendre in Splits

Actress Madhuri Dixit has recalled a hilarious behind-the-scenes incident from one of her films, revealing how she was left distracted during a live shot after discovering that her emotionally charged director was sitting on a camera trolley and crying.

Madhuri shared the anecdote while hosting the Marathi reality quiz show Kon Honar Crorepati, where actress Sonali Bendre appeared as a guest on the hot seat.

During their conversation, Sonali asked Madhuri whether she had ever regretted doing a film. In response, Madhuri recalled working with a director whose intense approach to filmmaking often left the cast surprised.

Speaking in Marathi, Madhuri explained that the director was a “high-voltage” personality who wanted every scene to begin at an intense emotional pitch. She said she would often argue that the performance should build gradually towards that level, but the director would insist on his own approach.

Madhuri revealed that the director sometimes became so emotional while explaining scenes that he would disappear from view and end up sitting under a table, crying.

She then recounted another incident from a trolley shot in which she was delivering an emotional dialogue when she began hearing strange sobbing sounds.

“I was giving my shot, and it was a trolley shot. I was delivering my dialogue, saying, ‘Why did you do that?’ when I started hearing these ‘sob-sob’ sounds,” Madhuri recalled.

Initially distracted by the unexpected noise, she looked around to find out what was happening, only to discover that the director was sitting on the trolley and crying.

The revelation left Sonali visibly amused. Unable to contain her laughter, she responded in disbelief, “Are you serious?”

Madhuri is among Hindi cinema’s most celebrated actresses, known for her performances in popular films such as Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Dil To Pagal Hai and Devdas. Her anecdote offered a humorous glimpse into the emotional intensity and unexpected moments that can unfold behind the camera.
