Renault has opened bookings for the Duster hybrid in India for Rs 21000, ahead of its launch on October 17. The company has also announced an ARAI-rated fuel efficiency of 29 kmpl for the upcoming SUV. The hybrid will join the existing 1.0-litre and 1.3-litre turbo-petrol versions.
Renault Duster hybrid engine and performance
Duster hybrid uses Renault’s E-Tech system, which combines a 1.8-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine with two electric motors and a 1.4kWh battery pack. The system produces a combined 160 hp and 172 Nm of torque.
Power is sent to the wheels through a multi-mode automatic gearbox. As a strong hybrid, the SUV charges its battery while driving, so it does not need to be plugged in. Renault also claims that the Duster hybrid can cover up to 80 per cent of city driving in electric mode.
Duster hybrid mileage compared with rivals
With a claimed mileage of 29kpl, the Duster hybrid has a higher certified fuel efficiency figure than the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder strong hybrids, both rated at 27.97 kmpl. The Maruti Suzuki Victoris is another rival in the segment.
Actual mileage will depend on traffic, driving style and road conditions.
Renault Duster hybrid launch and price
The official price will be announced at launch on October 17. Customers can book the SUV through Renault India’s website or authorised dealerships.
The hybrid will give buyers another option in the mid-size SUV segment, particularly those looking for better fuel efficiency without switching to a fully electric vehicle.
