CJP Protest Jantar Mantar October 10: Delhi Police Orders Detention Of Protesters, Deploys 35,000 Personnel

Delhi Police has issued instructions to detain individuals attempting to stage protests at any location ahead of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP)’s planned march to Jantar Mantar on October 10.

The directions reportedly apply irrespective of where protesters gather. Police authorities have also instructed Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) units not to issue weapons to personnel assigned to the protest deployment. Letters outlining the weapon-allocation arrangements have been sent to the concerned directorates. The measures come ahead of the planned demonstration, during which protesters are expected to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Police Issue Fresh Deployment Guidelines For October 10 Protest

Police teams have reportedly been authorised to carry lathis or batons during the October 10 deployment, unlike the arrangements followed during the INDIA alliance protest. Personnel have also been instructed to avoid verbal confrontations with demonstrators. The directions come amid concerns over alleged attempts to record and circulate videos portraying police personnel negatively. Officers have been advised to exercise caution while interacting with protesters and avoid situations that could lead to confrontations. These instructions form part of the security arrangements being put in place by Delhi Police ahead of the planned CJP march to Jantar Mantar.

Six Detention Centres Identified, Additional Women Personnel Called In

Delhi Police has designated six locations to accommodate protesters detained during the October 10 demonstration. The identified centres are Chhatrasal Stadium, Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Yamuna Sports Complex, Surajmal Stadium, Community Centre Daulatpur and Community Centre Pandrawal. Authorities have also called in additional women personnel from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana to strengthen security arrangements for the protest. The deployment is intended to support police operations during the demonstration and manage any detentions. These preparations are being undertaken ahead of the CJP march to Jantar Mantar, where participants are expected to gather to press their demand for the Chief Election Commissioner’s resignation.

Facial Recognition Systems, CCTV Cameras And Drones To Monitor Delhi

Security arrangements across Central Delhi are expected to include multiple Facial Recognition Systems (FRS), additional CCTV cameras, rooftop spotters and drones. More than 35,000 Delhi Police and paramilitary personnel are expected to be deployed for the CJP protest at Jantar Mantar on Saturday, October 10. The extensive deployment comes ahead of the planned demonstration, with protesters demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The surveillance measures are expected to support monitoring across the area during the protest. Police authorities are preparing for the gathering amid expectations that several groups will participate in the demonstration.

Student Organisations And Political Groups Expected To Join CJP Protest

Several student organisations and political groups are expected to participate in the planned CJP demonstration at Jantar Mantar on October 10. However, Delhi Police has maintained that permission has not been granted for the protest. The proposed march is centred on the demand for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. Ahead of the gathering, police authorities have issued detention instructions, identified six designated detention centres and arranged additional personnel from neighbouring states. Surveillance measures, including CCTV cameras, facial recognition systems and drones, are also expected to be deployed across Central Delhi as authorities prepare for the demonstration.
