Katrina Kaif Addresses Postpartum Trolling: “Be Your Own Cheerleader”

Katrina Kaif isn’t one to feed the trolls, but she did finally address them, in her own calm, collected way. Speaking at the Kay Beauty anniversary event in London, the actress opened up about handling online criticism, just weeks after facing backlash over her appearance at the Ambani family’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Mumbai.

Without naming the controversy directly, Katrina made her point clear. “I think we really need to be careful of letting the narrative on social media affect our self-worth and value because there are so many opinions out there. If we’re going to start to cater to all of them, it really hampers your ability to make choices for yourself,” she said.

She followed that up with a line that’s since been doing the rounds online. “There are times where the world is going to celebrate you and other times you have to really be your own biggest cheerleader.” Her closing thought was equally grounded, urging people to wear things lightly rather than take themselves too seriously.

Katrina and husband Vicky Kaushal welcomed their son Vihaan on November 7 last year, meaning he’s not even turned one yet. The trolling began after paparazzi photographs from the Ganpati celebration circulated online, with a section of users mocking her postpartum physical changes.

She wasn’t left to handle it alone either. Salman Khan stepped in to defend her during an episode of Bigg Boss 20, pointing out how normal weight gain after pregnancy is and firing back at critics. “Kisike failure pe mazak banana, mere saath bhi hua tha. Abhi bhi ho raha hoga, buddha ho gaya hai. What do you want to troll?” he said, reminding viewers that he too has faced similar mockery over the years.

Between Salman’s public support and Katrina’s own composed response, this particular round of trolling seems to have found its answer, graceful, unbothered, and entirely on her own terms.
