Watch: Abhishek Bachchan says Shah Rukh Khan took ‘personal responsibility’ for his career with King

Actor Abhishek Bachchan, who is gearing up for his upcoming action thriller,    with Shah Rukh Khan, recently opened up about the highly anticipated film. The actor called King his favourite film, explaining the reason for it. In a candid chat, he also said that SRK was like an elder brother to him and that the superstar has on multiple occasions taken ‘personal responsibility’ for his career, including King.

Abhishek Bachchan opens up about King

During a recent chat with BBC, Abhishek recalled an important piece of career advice he received from actor Shah Rukh Khan during their early years. When asked about his favourite film, Abhishek reflected on his childhood days, revealing how he spent Sundays playing cricket at filmmaker Aditya Chopra’s residence alongside Uday Chopra, Hrithik Roshan, and Sikandar Kher. He added that Khan would occasionally join them and served as a guiding figure for the group of aspiring actors.

 

Describing SRK as an “elder brother” who has consistently supported him, Abhishek revealed that the superstar has “literally taken personal responsibility several times now, including in King as well.”

He then recalled a conversation with SRK from before his acting debut when he asked Khan, “Which is your favourite film?” SRK replied saying, “My favourite film is the . Because if that is not my favourite film, then why am I doing it?”

Bachchan added, “So, what I am doing right now has to be my favourite. What has happened in the past is the past. I don’t think about it. Right now it is King.”

The action thriller includes an ensemble cast of Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Abhay Verma, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Arshad Warsi. Kareena Kapoor is also rumoured to have a in the film. The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on December 24, 2026, coinciding with the festival of Christmas 2026.

On the workfront, Abhishek Bachchan was last seen in the ZEE5 film, Kaalidhar Laapata, directed by Madhumita. The film was the Hindi remake of the filmmaker’s Tamil film, KD A Karuppu Durai.
