Star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja’s response in response to the BCCI’s X post inviting applications for one spot in the men’s selection committee went viral.
Fans across social media questioned whether he and former Indian cricketer Ajit Agarkar, who resigned from the selector’s position on Wednesday, had some fallout. In response to BCCI’s announcement regarding a selector position, Jadeja took to X to inquire about the application process. The all-rounder does not appear to be extremely active on the network; on February 19, he replied to a post regarding Nepal cricket made by former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.
Jadeja’s Post Sparks Buzz
Although there has never been a public altercation between Jadeja and Agarkar, the latter was crucial to India’s T20I transition from older players to younger ones.
“What the procedure?” Jadeja replied to BCCI’s post talking about a vacant post in the selection committee.
After India’s humiliating withdrawal from the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, Agarkar believed the team needed to focus on younger cricketers and started a plan to give them a new identity. Before India won the 2024 T20 , Agarkar’s idea was shelved when Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jadeja rejoined the Indian T20I team.
However, on the day of the victory, Rohit, Kohli, and Jadeja announced their retirement from the format, opening the door for Agarkar’s months-long overhaul. During ‘s tenure, Jadeja was not included in India’s ODI teams for the 2024 Sri Lanka series and the 2025 Australia series. However, the former top selector insisted that Jadeja was still a crucial component of the ODI team.
“(Selection) isn’t in my hands. I want to play, for sure. (At the) end of the day, team management, selectors, coach and captain have their thoughts, and they will have their reasons for not selecting me for this series,” Jadeja had said. Jadeja would most likely return to action during the upcoming New Zealand tour.
