After Uma Chetry and Riyan Parag, Assam’s Jintimani Kalita has earned a place in the Indian national team, being named in the Indian women’s T20I squad for the Zimbabwe tour of India 2026.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squads for the upcoming series on Tuesday, as Kalita found a place in the T20 setup.
The squad is led by Smriti Mandhana, who has been appointed India’s new full-time white-ball captain, succeeding Harmanpreet Kaur, whose tenure has ended, the BCCI announced. The 29-year-old, part of the Indian side since 2013, has previously captained India in 18 T20Is and four ODIs. She most recently led Royal Challengers Bengaluru to Women’s Premier League titles in 2024 and 2026.
Shafali Verma is vice-captain of the 15-member T20I squad, which also includes Niki Prasad, Harmanpreet Kaur, Anushka Sharma, Deepti Sharma, Prema Rawat, Sree Charani, Nandni Sharma, Kranti Gaud, Arundhati Reddy and Minnu Mani, along with wicketkeepers Richa Ghosh and G. Kamalini.
The three T20Is will be played on 16, 18 and 20 October in Raipur.
A separate ODI squad has also been announced, with Mandhana as captain and Deepti Sharma as vice-captain.
