The new smaller Bonneville range gets a 349cc engine, classic styling and twin rear shocks, with the T40 adding cornering ABS, cruise control and a circular TFT display.

Following the , Triumph has launched the Bonneville 400. Two Variants are on offer – Bonneville T4, T40 and T40 Black in India. The India lineup arrives with a 349cc engine developed from Triumph’s TR Series.

Prices start at Rs 2,54,999 for the Bonneville T4, while the T40 and T40 Black are both priced at Rs 2,79,999, ex-showroom Delhi. Developed in collaboration with Bajaj, the new motorcycles bring Bonneville styling to a more accessible price point.

Bookings Open October 7

Online bookings begin on October 7, 2026, at 4:30 pm. Triumph will commence T40 deliveries from the second week of November 2026, while T4 deliveries are scheduled to begin in the second week of January 2027. The Rs 25,000 gap between the T4 and T40 primarily gives buyers access to a more comprehensive technology and rider-assistance package.

Classic Bonneville Design

The production motorcycles retain the retro elements seen in the teaser and earlier test sightings. These include a sculpted teardrop fuel tank, circular headlamp, wire-spoke wheels and twin rear shock absorbers. A flat bench-style seat and peashooter exhaust reinforce the traditional appearance.

Triumph has also incorporated heritage-inspired two-tone paint schemes, hand-painted coach lining and classically shaped aluminium engine covers. The design gives the new Bonneville models a distinct identity alongside the brand’s existing small-capacity roadsters.

Relaxed ergonomics and a standard seat height of 790 mm are aimed at everyday usability. An optional low seat reduces this to 770 mm, making the motorcycles more accessible to shorter riders.

349cc Engine Produces 29 PS

Power comes from a 349cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder DOHC engine producing 29 PS at 7,000 rpm and 31 Nm at 5,500 rpm. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox and an assist-and-slipper clutch.

Triumph says the engine has a dedicated Bonneville tune focused on relaxed, torque-rich delivery. Both the T4 and T40 feature electronic throttle control, with the same peak power and torque outputs. It comes with a 14-litre fuel tank, 165 mm ground clearance and a 195 kg kerb weight for both models. Wheelbase measures 1,415 mm.

Spoke Wheels And Twin Rear Shocks

The chassis uses a tubular steel frame, with 43 mm conventional telescopic forks at the front and twin rear shocks offering seven-step preload adjustment. Suspension travel is 130 mm at both ends.

The motorcycles ride on an 18-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel, fitted with 100/90 front and 150/70 rear tyres. The spoke wheels use tubes. Braking hardware comprises a 310 mm front disc and a 255 mm rear disc, with ByBre calipers.

T40 Adds Cornering Rider Aids And Cruise Control

Technology is a major differentiator between the variants. The T40 and T40 Black get a four-inch circular TFT display with smartphone connectivity, navigation, phone and music controls. Five riding modes, cruise control, lean-sensitive cornering ABS and cornering traction control are also included.

The more affordable T4 features a colour LCD with turn-by-turn navigation, riding modes, traction control and conventional dual-channel ABS. It misses out on cruise control and cornering ABS.
