INDIA Bloc EC Protest Live Updates: The Opposition parties under the banner of the INDIA bloc have held a protest march from Parliament to Nirvachan Sadan, the headquarters of the Election Commission of India, in Delhi.
The protest led by leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav and others was stopped at the NITI Aayog office as Delhi Police erected barricades on the way. The Opposition MPs were detained for a short period of time.
The protest was called demanding resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, whom the Opposition has accused of denting the image of the poll body by his partisan functioning in favour of the BJP, particularly the alleged malpractice in the special intensive revision (SIR). The INDIA bloc parties have alleged that the exercise led to mass deletion of the names of eligible voters from the electoral rolls. The last march to the ECI from Parliament was organised by the Opposition on August 11, 2025, against SIR.
