The Hyundai Creta has long been one of India’s most-considered mid-size SUVs for several reasons: its features, plenty of powertrain options, and comfort. It’s safe to say Hyundai isn’t worried about anyone stealing the Creta’s thunder. But these upcoming launches could give the Creta a tough fight. Let’s take a look!
Upcoming Hyundai Creta Rivals: Jeep SUV

Stellantis and Tata have joined forces to develop a new Jeep SUV. Stellantis will reportedly use Tata’s ARGOS platform (the same as the Sierra) for the new SUV that will be sold globally and built locally in India. Details about this SUV have not surfaced yet; however, if it is a mid-size SUV, it could use the Sierra’s 1.5-litre powertrain options.
Moreover, it is too soon to speculate on the expected features, given the development time dedicated to this project. But since it will enter a highly competitive segment, we expect this new Jeep SUV to outdo the Compass and the Meridian on features. We expect Jeep to unveil this new SUV sometime in 2028.
JSW Chery iCAUR V23

The Chery iCAUR V23-based JSW SUV has been spotted testing several times, and it’s one of India’s most anticipated launches because of its boxy design and value proposition.
Globally, this electric SUV is offered with two battery-pack options: RWD with 134 bhp and 180 Nm from a 59.93 kWh battery, and AWD with 209 bhp and 292 Nm from an 81.76 kWh battery. The RWD has a claimed range of 360 km, and AWD has 430 km. We expect both the battery pack options to be offered with the India-spec model too.
The interior is also expected to match the international spec. But the iCAUR design patented in India includes a panoramic sunroof, which isn’t available in other markets. Other international-spec features are expected to carry over to the one sold in India, including a 15.4-inch touchscreen, ventilated and powered front seats, seven speakers, wireless connectivity, ADAS, keyless entry and start, and a 360-degree camera, among others.
It’s expected to be priced between Rs. 15 lakh and Rs. 26 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), with the launch expected in early to mid-2027.
Upcoming Hyundai Creta Rivals: JSW Jaecoo J5

The Jaecoo J5 is likely the second car JSW Motors could launch after the JSW Combat (Jetour T2-based SUV). The Jaecoo J5-based SUV could launch with both EV and ICE powertrains.
Spy shots reveal a design heavily inspired by the Range Rover family. It is a tech-loaded SUV with features like Level-2 ADAS, passive entry, seven airbags, power-adjustable and heated ORVMs, ventilated front seats, six-way powered front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a Sony eight-speaker sound system, a 13.2-inch infotainment screen that shows the feed from the 540-degree camera, and a 9-inch digital driver’s display.
It’s offered with EV, HEV, and ICE powertrains. It has a 58.9 kWh battery pack that delivers a claimed range of 400 km. The HEV is powered by a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine paired with a 1.83 kWh motor, producing 224 bhp and 295 Nm of torque (combined). The ICE J5 is powered by a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, producing 145 bhp & 210 Nm of torque.
Its pricing is expected to be around Rs. 18 lakh and Rs. 26 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). The launch is expected in early 2027.
Honda 0 Alpha

The Honda 0 Alpha will be a brand-new Honda EV with a boxy design, a rectangular grille, high-set vertical taillights, an upright tailgate, and chunky bumpers.
According to spy shots, the SUV appears to feature a large 13-to 14-inch infotainment screen and an approximately 10-inch digital instrument cluster; we also expect it to get features modern Hondas get, like powered and ventilated front seats, six airbags, ADAS, wireless charging, rear AC vents, a 360-degree camera, and more. Moreover, it will be Honda’s first electric model for India, but the specs are currently under wraps.
The 0 Alpha is expected to cost between Rs. 20 lakh and Rs. 30 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), with the launch anticipated in early 2027.
Upcoming Hyundai Creta Rivals: BYD Atto 2

The Atto 2 will be positioned below the Atto 3 and aims to compete with the Creta. It shares a few design elements with the Atto 3, but it is smaller overall.
The Atto 2 gets a 12.8-inch touchscreen that rotates between landscape and portrait orientation, plus an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera, ADAS, six airbags, and eight speakers. You also get heated seats in the European-spec Atto 2, which we expect BYD to replace with, or pair with, seat ventilation. BYD cars are known for using high-quality cabin materials; if launched, the Atto 2’s cabin could set the segment benchmark.
The Atto 2 is available as a plug-in-hybrid and a pure EV too. The hybrid powertrain pairs a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with a 7.8 kWh or 18 kWh battery, delivering up to 1,000 kilometres of range and 90 kilometres of electric-only driving range. Atto 2 BEV is offered with two LFP Blade Batteries: 45.1 kWh and 64.8 kWh, providing a WLTP-claimed combined range of 463 km and 604 km, respectively.
This upcoming Hyundai Creta rival is expected to hit BYD showrooms in early to mid-2027. On-road, the Atto 2 is expected to be priced between Rs. 19 lakh and Rs. 30 lakh (in Mumbai).
