New Delhi: Hardik Pandya is reportedly attracting renewed interest from IPL franchises amid rumours of a trade move from Mumbai Indians (MI).
As per a report in Cricbuzz, at least one IPL franchise has made fresh inquiries about the star India all-rounder.
As per the report, multiple IPL franchises have made approaches for Pandya over the last few months, however, one team has shown greater interest in the all-rounder. Hardik is arguably one of the best T20 all-rounders in the world at present and also offers great leadership skills.
He led Gujarat Titans to their maiden IPL title as captain in their debut season in 2022 and helped them reach back-to-back finals in 2023. He returned to Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2024 and was handed over captaincy, however, his leadership stint at MI has not turned out as expected.
But despite his leadership struggles at Mumbai Indians, Hardik remains one of the most sought-after players in the IPL. He is a vital cog for India in white-ball cricket, and a change in setup might help him rediscover his best in the IPL after leaving Mumbai Indians for the second time in his career.
MI held discussions with CSK and KKR
As per Cricbuzz, Mumbai Indians have previously held discussions with multiple teams, including Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders regarding a trade move for Hardik. CSK were heavily linked with a move for the all-rounder at one stage.
With former Mumbai Indians Director of Cricket Zaheer Khan becoming the new head coach of CSK, many believe the chance of a move for Pandya has receded. However, nothing can be ruled out as professional equations and interpersonal relations can change very quickly in the IPL.
With the trading window set to close a week before the auction, the trade move involving Hardik can heat up as all parties involved will have to make a decision soon. November 15 is the deadline for all ten franchises to reveal their retentions ahead of the IPL 2027 auction, which is set to take place in December this year.
