Nishin, October 4. Indian star opener Abhishek Sharma played a crucial innings of 61 runs off 28 balls against Pakistan in the gold medal match at the Asian Games held at Karogi Sports Park on Saturday, helping the team reach a score of 211 for 6 wickets.
During this explosive innings, Abhishek achieved several milestones. He hit 7 sixes in his innings, and with the second six, he completed 400 sixes in T20 cricket, bringing his total to 405. Abhishek surpassed Chris Gayle to secure the second position for the fastest 400 sixes in T20 cricket.
Gayle took 3,557 balls to hit 400 sixes, while Abhishek achieved this in 3,513 balls. The record for the fastest 400 sixes in T20 cricket is held by West Indies’ Andre Russell, who hit 400 sixes in 3,027 balls. Abhishek also set another significant record during his innings of 61 runs, completing 100 T20 sixes in 2026.
He is now second for the fastest 100 sixes in a calendar year, having hit 100 sixes in 651 balls, surpassing South Africa’s Dewald Brevis and Chris Gayle. Andre Russell holds the first position for the fastest 100 sixes in a year.
