The Yogi government said that the deployment in the State Tax Department will be on the basis of performance only. New reforms of GST estimate the market boom, 55,000 crore revenue receipts, action on fake firms and full emphasis on increasing tax.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while reviewing the revenue receipts of the state tax department, has clearly stated that the basis of deployment in the field will be on the performance capacity of the officers only ie ‘performance’. He said that every officer will be deployed whose image is clear and commitment in achieving the goal.

Talking directly to the zonal officials through video conferencing, the Chief Minister said that the ‘Next Generation Reform’ in GST has accelerated the market and its positive impacts will be clearly visible in the coming months. At the same time, he instructed to avoid unnecessary raids and investigation during Dhanteras and Deepawali so that the traders do not get additional burden.

Tax department data and review

Currently, till September, the State Tax Department has earned an income of Rs 55,000 crore, with 40,000 crore from GST and 15,000 crores from VAT/Non-GST. This shows that the performance of zones like Bareilly, Saharanpur, Meerut, Gorakhpur and Jhansi is much better.

During this period, CM Yogi reviewed all the zones and directed the officials to make a correction plan by fixing the accountability of the sections who are collecting less than 50 percent. The condition of the old zones was also closely analyzed.

Strict steps against fake ITC and corruption

Special attention was paid to bogus firms and fake input tax credit (ITC) in the meeting. So far, fake claims worth ₹ 873.48 crore have been discovered against which action is going on. The Chief Minister said that transparency in revenue collection will be paramount and corrections will be done by reviewing every deficiency.

CM Yogi instructed all the officials to do market mapping, increase dialogue with traders, and give priority to GST registration and timely return filing. He informed that both farmers and trade have benefited from the decrease in mandi duty, and this method will give a new way to the economy of Uttar Pradesh.

The revenue target for the state in the financial year 2025-26 has been set ₹ 1.75 lakh crore, which is about ₹ 18,700 crore more than the previous financial year. The Chief Minister pledged to all the officials to achieve the complete achievement of the prescribed goals and said that Uttar Pradesh will have to become a leader in the country in the field of GST collection. He said, “The increase of revenue is the basis of prosperity and development of the state. Every rupee will speed up the development of the state.”
