Ayushmann Khurrana Pays Radio-Style Tribute to Amitabh Bachchan Ahead of 84th Birthday

Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana paid a special tribute to megastar Amitabh Bachchan on the sets of the popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), recreating his radio jockey style and reciting poetry from the actor’s iconic film Kabhi Kabhie ahead of his 84th birthday.

Ayushmann appeared on the show alongside his co-star Sara Ali Khan to promote their upcoming drama Udta Teer. During the episode, he drew on his experience as a radio jockey to introduce Bachchan in a distinctive radio-style presentation as part of the birthday celebrations.

Introducing the veteran actor, Ayushmann said, “Radio andaaz mein aapka introduction diya jaaye… KBC Radio par, ‘Maan Na Maan, Main Hoon Aapka Ayushmann!’ This is Amitabh Bachchan’s Birthday Week, so coming up next on AB 84.0, stay tuned.”

The tribute continued with Ayushmann’s rendition of the evergreen romantic song Kabhi Kabhie Mere Dil Mein Khayal Aata Hai from Bachchan’s 1976 film Kabhi Kabhie. The performance created a special moment on the show, celebrating the cinematic legacy of the veteran actor.

The timeless song was composed by Khayyam, with lyrics penned by Sahir Ludhianvi.

Meanwhile, Ayushmann and Sara Ali Khan are gearing up for the release of Udta Teer, which is scheduled to hit theatres on October 23.

In the film, Ayushmann plays Bilal Ahmed, a Pakistani spy who suffers memory loss and begins to believe that he is Indian.

Speaking about the project, Ayushmann said the film’s genre and the world created by director Akash drew him to the script.

“Every new director brings a different energy to the set. With ‘Udta Teer’ what drew me in was not just the genre, but the world Akash had created,” he said.

He added that the film’s combination of chaos, humour, emotion and a larger underlying idea made the script distinctive.

“It is rare to find a script that can be chaotic, funny, emotional and rooted in a larger idea at the same time. I wanted to surrender to that vision and allow the character to take me somewhere unexpected,” Ayushmann said.
