Singer Chinmayi Sripada has called out the disturbing misuse of AI after a morphed video featuring actress Janhvi Kapoor from the Devara song Chuttamalle surfaced online.
Without naming the actress, Chinmayi took to X and criticised those engaging with the deepfake, pointing out that people were allegedly asking for links to the manipulated video in the comments. She wrote, “Someone has made an AI Deep Fake video of an actress and men are thirsting under this page for the link of the video.”
Calling out the wider attitude towards consent, Chinmayi added, “The rape culture in these Indian men is disgusting; no wonder they rage and rant when people talk about consent.”
The AI-generated video has drawn strong criticism online after footage from Chuttamalle, featuring Janhvi Kapoor and Jr NTR, was digitally manipulated to create objectionable content that was not part of the original song. Reports say the video has been circulating across social media platforms.
Jr NTR also reacted strongly to the controversy, calling the use of AI to disrespect a woman “disgusting, sick and shameless” and stating that legal action would be taken against those who created and circulated the morphed video. He also urged people not to watch, share or engage with such content.
Janhvi Kapoor has also condemned the circulation of AI-generated fake videos and warned that legal action would be taken against those involved.
