Actress Divya Khossla has criticised the reported circumstances surrounding Komal Rani’s appearance with sindoor during a visit to Lalbaugcha Raja with actor Govinda, questioning the use of a religious symbol amid speculation about their relationship.
In a strongly worded post on her Instagram Stories on Thursday, Divya said that while personal choices should be respected, public conduct at religious places also carries social significance. She urged the actors to avoid using religion for personal purposes.
The controversy arose after social media users noticed that Komal, who has been rumoured to be Govinda’s girlfriend, initially appeared without sindoor on her forehead when she arrived at the Lalbaugcha Raja pandal. She was later seen with sindoor along her hair parting after offering prayers, prompting speculation about a possible secret wedding.
However, some social media users suggested that the mark could have resulted from religious rituals during her visit, arguing that it may have been left when she touched her forehead to the deity’s feet.
Reacting to the discussion, Divya questioned the circumstances in which the sindoor appeared and the subsequent media attention. She also objected to what she described as the use of religion for personal agendas, emphasising the significance of sindoor as a symbol of a married Hindu woman.
“Whatever we do in our personal life is definitely our choice,” she wrote, while stressing the importance of maintaining social boundaries.
Divya also expressed disappointment with celebrities who, according to her, were supporting such conduct. She had earlier criticised Govinda and Komal’s public appearance at the pandal and expressed support for Govinda’s wife, Sunita Ahuja.
Neither a marriage between Govinda and Komal nor the circumstances behind the sindoor mark were confirmed in the source report.
