Skoda has confirmed the return of one of its most luxurious offerings to India. While most people know this car for its comfort and premium feel, many don’t realise it can deliver up to 40 km/l under the right conditions. Here’s what you should know.
Most Popular Skoda Coming Back, With A Bang

Skoda’s global icon, the Superb, is confirmed to return to India. It will be the model’s fourth generation and will come with a diesel engine. It will mark the return of a Volkswagen Group diesel to the Indian market since the BS6 norms arrived in 2020. If you missed the limited batch of third-generation cars imported in 2024, this will be the first time the latest-generation model is officially offered here.
The Skoda Superb is expected to launch by 2027. Furthermore, it will be brought in via the CBU route, so expect it to cost around Rs. 65 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). There’s even a chance of a much lower price, as the India-EU Free Trade Agreement is set to come into force in 2027, lowering import duties. If Skoda prices it well, the Superb becomes a strong alternative to the Toyota Camry, currently the only other sedan in this premium space.
40 KMPL, Really?

Let’s be clear about it. The 40 km/l figure comes from a controlled test in Europe, where a Superb diesel covered about 2,800 km. In everyday conditions, expect much lower numbers. The European-spec model has a claimed mileage of around 20 km/l, which is still impressive for a car of this size.
More About The Skoda Superb

The upcoming Skoda Superb is confirmed to come with a 2.0-litre diesel engine. This mill can produce 150 bhp & 360 Nm of torque. A seven-speed DSG sends power to all four wheels. And if the market demands a petrol powertrain, Skoda could use the 2.0-litre TSI from the Kodiaq on the Superb.
In terms of features, we expect it to get a Level-2 ADAS suite, a 360-degree camera, a 13-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, a 15-speaker Canton sound system, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and power front seats with a massaging function, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a wireless charger, and much more.
