Bangladesh Sets 112-Run Target for Pakistan in Asian Games Cricket Semi-Final

Bangladesh faced Pakistan in the men’s cricket semi-final of the  2026 at Korogi Sports Park in Nishin.

Batting first, Bangladesh managed to score 111 runs for the loss of seven wickets in a rain-shortened match, reduced to 13 overs.

Pakistan’s captain, Sahibzada Farhan, won the toss and opted to bowl due to a wet outfield. Bangladesh struggled initially, losing their top four batsmen for just 45 runs. However, a crucial partnership between Towhid Hridoy and Mosaddek Hossain steadied the innings, as they added 53 runs for the fifth wicket off just 30 balls. Towhid scored 42 runs off 25 balls, hitting four sixes and two fours, while Mosaddek contributed 11 runs from 16 balls. In the final overs, Mehidy Hasan scored an unbeaten 8 runs from just four balls, helping the team reach a total of 111 runs.

Despite a promising partnership, Bangladesh’s innings faltered as Pakistani bowlers made a strong comeback by taking crucial wickets and restricting the lower order. Sufiyan Muqeem was the standout bowler for Pakistan, claiming three wickets for 26 runs in three overs. Arafat Minhas supported him well with two wickets for 23 runs, while Saeem Ayub also impressed, taking one wicket for just three runs in two overs.

Pakistan now needs to chase down the target of 112 runs to secure a place in the final. If they fail to reach this target, they will have to compete in the bronze medal match.
