Actor Teja Sajja is set to make his reality television hosting debut with ‘The Traitors Telugu’, the Telugu adaptation of the popular international reality franchise.
Prime Video has announced that the 10-episode series will premiere on October 15, with new episodes released every Thursday over four weeks.
The show will bring together 20 personalities from different backgrounds for a game built around trust, strategy, deception and betrayal.
In a video shared by the makers on Instagram, Teja says that people remain good until they get an opportunity to betray for love, power, war or victory, adding that while eras and reasons may change, betrayal remains constant.
Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals, Prime Video (SVOD) and Amazon MGM Studios India, described the Telugu edition as an expansion of the franchise following two successful Hindi seasons.
He said Teja was chosen to lead the Telugu edition for his charisma, spontaneity and connection with audiences, adding that the show aims to expand the franchise’s reach in India and globally.
Fazila Allana, Partner and Co-Founder of SOL Productions, said bringing the format to Telugu provides an opportunity to explore universal themes of trust, ambition, relationships and betrayal while incorporating the cultural flavour of Telugu entertainment.
She said the team wanted to create an immersive world centred on the personalities participating in the game and expressed hope that audiences would debate and speculate as the competition unfolds.
‘The Traitors Telugu’ will stream in Telugu with English subtitles on Prime Video.
