When the makers of the film called Love & War wished their leading man on his birthday, the caption go everyone’s attention. Ranbir Kapoor turned 44 on September 28, and the team behind Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming epic did not disappoint.
Bhansali Productions and Saregama shared a photo of the birthday boy posing with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, along with a line that instantly did the rounds online. “Today, there’s only Love, no War! Happy birthday Ranbir!” it read. Cheeky, warm and perfectly on brand. The cast and crew reportedly celebrated with a special birthday dinner, with pictures from the evening later shared on social media.
The timing is a sweet one. Ranbir’s first look from Love & War was unveiled only days ago, on September 24, showing him behind the wheel of a vintage turquoise convertible, one arm bruised and bloodied. Alia’s poster had her turning cabaret artist, while Vicky’s showed him intense with a cigar in one and holding a bouquet in a pool of water in another. Three stars, three very different moods, all under the same director.
For Ranbir, this is a full-circle moment. He began his career as an assistant director on Bhansali’s Black and made his acting debut in the filmmaker’s Saawariya in 2007. Love & War marks their reunion nearly two decades later. Alia has already worked with Bhansali on Gangubai Kathiawadi, while Vicky steps into the director’s world for the very first time.
Described as an epic romantic drama set against the backdrop of war, the film arrives in cinemas on January 21, 2027, releasing in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Ranbir also has Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana coming up, where he plays Lord Ram.
