‘Ramayana’ Release Date Preponed?
Initially slated to hit theatres on Friday, November 6, 2026, the updated release strategy aims to give the epic feature an early head start at the box office. By opening on Thursday, November 5, the film will benefit from early evening preview shows across key domestic and international markets before entering the lucrative Diwali festive period.
Trade sources indicate that major global releases increasingly rely on Thursday evening previews to build word-of-mouth momentum. A multi-day holiday opening window is expected to maximise theatre screens and ticket sales globally. A report published by Bollywood Hungama detailed the revised distribution window. According to trade insiders cited in the report, the production team and distributors finalised the November 5 timeline to align overseas rollouts with domestic Indian screenings.
A source told the portal, “The makers of Ramayana have now decided to release their labour of love on Thursday, November 5. Also, this time, the plan is to release it across the world, that is, in India as well as overseas, on the same day. The stakeholders are more or less on board with this new release date. If it gets final approval, the makers will make an official announcement.”
While Dharma Productions is handling distribution across India, Sony Pictures holds the international theatrical rights. The simultaneous worldwide rollout on a Thursday ensures the film avoids staggered release schedules and spoilers across regions.
