Veteran journalist and Sunday Mid-Day Editor Aastha Atray Banan, in a conversation with Siddharth Kannan for his podcast, revealed Bollywood secrets, toxic realities, and more. The journalist extensively discussed how stars like Ravi Kishan and Ranveer Singh maintain a fake image in front of the public.
During the conversation, Siddharth brought up a recent viral video of actor-politician Ravi Kishan recreating old dance moves at a public event. He noted that netizen feedback suggested the actor was “trying too hard,” causing his signature natural charm to vanish.
Sharing her take and agreeing with the observation, Aastha remarked that it is human nature to overcompensate when a person knows they are constantly being watched. “Authenticity is a rare commodity,” she pointed out. Aastha emphasized that Ravi Kishan used to be authentic, but now he has gotten stuck in his own caricature.
Using Ranveer Singh as another example, the journalist noted that Ranveer is perpetually expected to dress flamboyantly and show explosive energy. If he were to appear completely normal, the audience would inevitably question, “Where is the real Ranveer?”
Adding to this, Siddharth shared his own experience, revealing that when he met Ranveer, he found him very calm and quiet. The podcaster emphasizes that Ranveer seems calm in his personal life, but mentally gears up to channel that famous high-voltage energy the second he steps in front of the media or onto a public stage.
Adding to it, Aastha shared that Karan Johar once said people will never know the real Ranveer, and she believes it’s true, as she feels Ranveer is a calm, muted person in real life.
