American YouTuber MrBeast attended a Mumbai promotional event for Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming mythological film ‘Ramayana’, where actor Ranbir Kapoor prompted him to respond to a “Jai Shri Ram” chant.
During the event, a paparazzo greeted MrBeast by saying, “Jai Shri Ram, Mr Beast.” Appearing unsure about how to respond, the YouTuber was guided by Ranbir, who asked him to say “Jai Shri Ram”. MrBeast then repeated the chant.
Ranbir, who portrays Lord Rama in the film, also spoke about the significance of Dharma and the character’s place in Indian cultural consciousness.
“Ramayana and Shri Ram are deeply etched in our subconscious mind. Lord Rama never tried to be a hero; he is called Maryada Purushottam, which means ideal man,” Ranbir said.
He added that Rama, despite being born a prince with access to privilege, gave up everything to honour his father’s promise and fulfil his duties. Ranbir said the concept of Dharma refers to one’s duties and expressed hope that the film would give audiences an introduction to Indian culture and history.
Another highlight of the event saw Ranbir lift a Shiv Dhanush after offering prayers before placing it back.
The event also featured Sai Pallavi, Ravie Dubey and producer Namit Malhotra. However, the programme was delayed by several hours, prompting several media representatives to boycott the event.
‘Ramayana’ stars Ranbir as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita and Yash as Ravana. The cast also includes Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha, Kajal Aggarwal as Mandodari, Arun Govil as King Dashrath, Kunal Kapoor as Lord Indra and Adinath Kothare as Bharat.
The film is planned as a two-part franchise. The first instalment is expected to release in theatres on November 9, around Diwali, while the second part, which is currently in production, is scheduled for release in 2027.
