Actress Sonakshi Sinha recently revisited her love for the saree, revealing that she had last worn the traditional attire on her wedding day in June 2024.
Sharing a series of pictures on Instagram, Sonakshi wrote that it felt nice to wear a saree again after such a long gap. She also revealed that the red saree she wore was a gift from her close friend and Double XL co-star Huma Qureshi.
In the pictures, Sonakshi posed on her balcony in a red saree styled with matching bangles and earrings. She wore her hair in a bun decorated with gajra and completed the traditional look with a mangalsutra and sindoor. Her makeup was kept understated, with nude lipstick complementing the ensemble.
The Dabangg actress has frequently embraced the saree for important occasions. At her wedding to Zaheer Iqbal, she chose an ivory Chikankari saree that had belonged to her mother, Poonam Sinha. The 44-year-old pure silk georgette saree featured intricate hand-embroidered Chikankari work and carried sentimental value for the actress.
For the couple’s wedding reception, Sonakshi opted for a crimson-red Banarasi silk saree from designer Sanjay Garg’s label Raw Mango. The saree, named “Chand Buta”, was crafted from Katan silk and featured gold crescent and floral motifs with a zari border.
She accessorised the reception look with an emerald-and-gold choker, statement jhumkas and traditional red chura bangles.
Sonakshi married Zaheer Iqbal in an intimate ceremony in Mumbai on June 23, 2024, after being in a relationship with him for several years.
