Bollywood actress-turned-author Twinkle Khanna recently shared a funny yet controversial incident on her talk show. She revealed that a birthday message from the late actor Rishi Kapoor led people to believe she was his illegitimate daughter while chatting with Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan on a new episode of her show, Too Much.
Recalling the old incident involving Alia’s father-in-law, Rishi Kapoor, Twinkle revealed how a sweet message on social media turned into a rumor and landed her in a very difficult situation. Twinkle said, “I almost became a Kapoor because of Alia’s father-in-law. On my birthday, he tweeted very generously, ‘Oh, you know… when you were in your mother’s stomach, I serenaded her.’ So everybody thought that I was his illegitimate daughter. Then he got trolled and had to clarify, saying, ‘No, I am so sorry,'” Twinkle’s co-host, Kajol, also joked that Alia suddenly didn’t know how to react.

The entire issue stemmed from a tweet by Rishi Kapoor. While wishing Twinkle Khanna a happy birthday, the superstar of his time, Rishi Kapoor, mentioned his famous film, Bobby. He wrote, “Happy Happy Birthday, dear one! You were in your mum’s tummy when I was serenading her in Bobby in 1973 lol.” People began questioning the dates and times, assuming there was something fishy about Twinkle’s birth and the shooting time of Bobby.
Rishi Kapoor clarification on viral tweet
After facing trolls, Rishi Kapoor himself clarified the situation. He tweeted, “Kuch logon ko problem kya hai? Kakaji and Dimple were married, Bobby was still incomplete, we shot that song when Dimple was 3 months pregnant. Kakaji-Dimple married in March ’73. Bobby released Sept 28th ’73. Twinkle born 29th Dec ’73.” Rishi Kapoor was known for his outspokenness and active social media presence. This is why even a lighthearted message from him became a topic of discussion.
