India made a strong statement in compound archery at the Asian Games 2026, with both the men’s and women’s teams advancing to the semi-finals after impressive performances in their opening knockout rounds.
The men’s compound team of Sahil Jadhav, Thirumuru Ganesh Maniratnam and Kushal Dalal began their campaign with a commanding 235-215 victory over the United Arab Emirates in the Round of 16. They faced a tougher test against Bhutan in the quarter-finals but held their nerve to register a 235-232 win and secure their place in the last four.

The women’s team also produced a strong start. Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Chikitha Taniparthi and Prithika Pradeep defeated Mongolia in the Round of 16 before overcoming Kazakhstan 233-230 in the quarter-finals.
The quarter-final against Kazakhstan was particularly competitive, with India recovering strongly after trailing early in the contest. Their three-point victory ensured that the women’s team, like their male counterparts, moved into the semi-final stage.
The results give India two strong medal opportunities in the compound team events, although reaching the semi-finals does not automatically secure a bronze medal, as the losing semi-finalists will contest separate bronze-medal matches. The compound team medal rounds are scheduled for September 30 at Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park.
India will therefore look to take the next step in the competition and earn places in the respective gold-medal matches. With both teams through to the semi-finals, the country has already positioned itself for a significant presence in the compound archery medal battles at Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
