Renault Duster Hybrid India launch is confirmed for October 17, with the French carmaker set to reveal the price of its new strong-hybrid SUV. The Duster Hybrid will become the third powertrain option in the India-spec SUV range and will take on strong-hybrid versions of the Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder and Maruti Victoris.
Renault Duster Hybrid: Engine and power
Duster Hybrid will use Renault’s E-Tech strong-hybrid system, combining a naturally aspirated 1.8-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine with two electric motors.
The system has a 20hp motor acting as a generator and a 49hp electric motor driving the wheels. Combined output is rated at 160hp and 172Nm, with a 1.4kWh battery pack.
The hybrid will be offered with an automatic transmission and is expected to become the most powerful electrified version of the Duster in India.
Duster Hybrid mileage: What to expect
Renault has not yet announced the final certified mileage figure for the India-spec Duster Hybrid.
However, the company says the E-Tech system can allow up to 80% of city driving to be completed in EV mode. This should help reduce fuel consumption in stop-and-go traffic, although the actual mileage will depend on driving conditions, traffic and driving style.
The existing petrol Duster has claimed efficiency figures of up to 19.41kmpl, depending on the engine and transmission.
Renault Duster Hybrid price in India
Renault has not announced the Duster Hybrid price yet. The company will reveal the prices on October 17.
The hybrid is expected to command a significant premium over the petrol range. Reports currently estimate a price of around Rs 19–23 lakh (ex-showroom), but this remains an expectation until Renault makes the official announcement.
Features and technology
India-spec Duster already offers features such as a panoramic sunroof, 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, dual-zone climate control and Level 2 ADAS on higher variants.
The hybrid is expected to retain much of this equipment, although Renault will reveal the exact variant-wise feature list closer to the price announcement.
Duster Hybrid rivals in India
Renault Duster Hybrid will enter a growing strong-hybrid SUV segment that includes the Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Maruti Victoris.
Renault had earlier said that strong demand for the hybrid had already resulted in its planned 2026 allocation being fully booked, with bookings expected to reopen ahead of deliveries around Diwali.
