Actress Wamiqa Gabbi has opened up about her memorable experience on Kaun Banega Crorepati 18, recalling how appearing on the popular quiz show took her back to her childhood days of watching it with her family.
The Bhool Chuk Maaf actress said sitting on the KBC hot seat in front of megastar Amitabh Bachchan felt surreal, particularly as she could see her family sitting in the audience. The moment reminded her of the years when they would sit together in front of the television and watch the show.
Sharing a video from the episode on Instagram, Wamiqa wrote that KBC took her “straight back home” to her childhood, when she had no idea where life would take her.
She recalled that the significance of the moment fully sank in when Amitabh sat in front of her and she looked towards her family in the audience.
“That little distance between the sofa at home and the KBC hot seat suddenly felt like an entire lifetime,” she wrote.
Wamiqa added that fellow middle-class families would perhaps understand the emotion behind the moment the most, as some experiences belong not just to an individual but to the entire family.
“That day, there was one person on the hot seat… but it felt like my whole family was sitting there with me,” she wrote, describing the experience as both unpredictable and beautiful.
The video features Wamiqa sitting on the hot seat alongside actor Rajkummar Rao and Ujjwal Nikam. During the interaction, Amitabh also offered her a glass of water.
Wamiqa told Amitabh that she had been working for several years and trying to do a good job. Recalling her father’s reaction when she worked with Jaya Bachchan, she said he had told her, “Now you’re working.”
She then joked that working closer to Amitabh’s residence felt like another step towards becoming an actor.
Responding to her, Amitabh addressed her parents and said, “Sir, you don’t worry. She’s a very good artist. We’ve got all her reports.”
The upcoming episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18 will feature Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, along with Ujjwal Nikam, as they join Amitabh Bachchan on the show to promote their film Prahaar.
