Tokai, September 25 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian men’s kabaddi team advanced to the finals of the by defeating Thailand 66-28 in a semifinal match held at the Tokai Citizen Gymnasium.
This victory marks the team’s ninth appearance in the finals, as they aim to defend their title from 2023.
India showcased a dominant performance throughout the match, scoring 37 points in the first half while limiting Thailand to just 18. The second half continued to favor the Indian squad, who added another 29 points compared to Thailand’s 10.
In the first half, India recorded 21 outs and capitalized on Thailand’s defense to earn 12 bonus points and execute two all-outs. Although Thailand initially put up a strong fight, managing 13 outs and three bonus points, they were unable to maintain their momentum. In the second half, India further solidified their lead with 22 outs and three bonus points, while Thailand managed only seven outs and two bonus points, along with one technical point.
The Indian team remains undefeated in the tournament and will face either Iran or Chinese Taipei in the final.
In a related note, the Indian women’s kabaddi team also secured their place in the finals by defeating Nepal 48-24. The women dominated the match, leading 31-17 at halftime and maintaining their advantage in the second half.
The women’s final will take place against either Chinese Taipei or Iran on Saturday.
