Kalki 2898 AD has added two National Awards to its achievements. The Nag Ashwin directorial won the award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and Best Production Design at the 72nd National Film Awards, which honoured films released in 2024. The film was produced by Vyjayanthi Movies and featured Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles. The National Award recognition acknowledges both the film’s entertainment value and the production design created for its futuristic world. Production designer Nitin Zihani Choudhary received the honour for his work on the film.
Kalki 2898 AD was one of the major Telugu winners at this year’s National Film Awards. Telugu cinema won nine awards across different categories, with films such as Pushpa: The Rule Part 2 and 35 Chinna Katha Kaadu also receiving recognition. For Vyjayanthi Movies, the two awards are significant as the production house backed Nag Ashwin’s vision of combining Indian mythology with science fiction. The team is currently busy with the sequel of Kalki 2898 AD and the film is expected to release in 2028.
