Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a coin of 100 rupees on the centenary celebrations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). For the first time, a picture of Bharat Mata was inscribed on Indian currency. PM Modi described it as a moment of great pride and historical importance.
RSS Centenary Celebrations: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday issued a special postage stamp and a memorial coin of Rs 100 on the occasion of the centenary celebrations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). For the first time, a picture of Bharat Mata was inscribed on Indian currency.
On one side of the 100 rupee coin is a national emblem, while on the other side there is a grand image of Mother India in Varad Mudra. It has a sense of offering palm outwards. Along with this, a lion remains. Volunteers are shown bows in front of them with devotion and dedication. RSS’s motto on the coin is also inscribed “Rashtriya Swaha, Idan Rashtraya, Idan Mam”, which means “everything dedicated to the nation, everything belongs to the nation, nothing is mine.”
The PM said at a program organized in Delhi, “For the first time in the history of independent India, the image of Bharat Mata has been inscribed on Indian currency. It is a moment of great pride and historical importance.”
Why is the design of the coin special?
The postage stamp issued with coins depicts the participation of RSS workers in the 1963 Republic Day parade. This shows the historical contribution of the organization. PM Modi described this moment as a proud tribute to a century long journey of service and dedication of Bharat Mata and RSS. The centenary celebrations were organized by the Ministry of Culture. It was attended by RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosbole, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

RSS was established in 1925
Please tell that the RSS was established by Keshav Baliram Hedgewar in 1925 in Nagpur. It was established as a voluntary organization that aims to promote cultural awareness, discipline, service and social responsibility among the citizens. PM Modi was an RSS pracharak. He made his mark as an organizer before joining the BJP.
