Indian athletes will compete across multiple disciplines on September 22 at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, with key events including the women’s cricket final, badminton quarter-finals, and shooting contests.
The Indian women’s cricket team will play Sri Lanka in the final at Korogi Athletic Park, starting at 2:00 PM JST (10:30 AM IST), aiming to secure a second successive Asian Games gold medal.
In badminton, the Indian women’s team comprising PV Sindhu, Unnati Hooda, Devika Sihag, Tanvi Sharma, Isharani Baruah, Treesa, and Gayatri will face host nation Japan in the quarter-final at Ichinomiya City Municipal Gymnasium at 9:30 AM JST (6:00 AM IST). Later in the day, the men’s badminton team featuring Lakshya Sen, Ayush Shetty, HS Prannoy, Kidambi Srikanth, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty, among others, will also meet Japan at 3:00 PM JST (11:30 AM IST).
Shooting events will be prominent, with Parth Rakesh Mane and Elavenil Valarivan competing in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team qualification round at 9:45 AM JST (6:15 AM IST), followed by the final at 11:55 AM JST (8:25 AM IST). Indian shooters Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Bhavtegh Singh Gill, and Mairaj Ahmad Khan will participate in the men’s individual and team skeet qualification rounds, while Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Raiza Dhillon, and Maheshwari Chauhan compete in the women’s skeet qualifications.
The Indian men’s hockey team will play Sri Lanka in a Pool A match at 3:30 PM JST, having opened their campaign with a 13-1 victory over Indonesia.
Boxers Sakshi Choudhary (women’s 51kg) and Jadumani Singh (men’s 55kg) will contest their round of 32 matches at 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM JST, respectively.
Additional Indian athletes will participate in fencing, wushu, swimming, equestrian, karate, soft tennis, table tennis, and esports throughout the day. The schedule remains subject to change.
