Nayla Grewal, an emerging actress in the Indian film industry, recently shared her evolving perspective on success in an interview. For many artists, the definition of success shifts over time. In the early stages of her career, Grewal associated success with material achievements such as owning a home and a car. However, she now finds greater value in the joy and satisfaction that comes from her work.
“When I first started my career, success meant different things to me. I equated it with having a house in Mumbai and buying a car,” she explained. “Now, true success for me is returning home after a long day on set, feeling that I gave my all.”
Grewal emphasized that her current definition of success centers on job satisfaction rather than merely achieving significant milestones. She described how, after spending long hours on set, the feeling of having fully committed to her role is a true indicator of success. “At the end of the day, I need to feel that I invested my time wisely and did my best,” she stated.
She also highlighted that audience appreciation plays a crucial role in her understanding of success. “When people enjoy my work and commend my acting, it reassures me that my efforts are heading in the right direction. For me, success is not just what is visible from the outside; it’s also the internal fulfillment I feel after completing a project.”
Reflecting on her journey, Grewal noted that she began her acting career in Delhi, starting with college theater. This path eventually led her to Mumbai, where she is now pursuing acting full-time. “This transition has been a significant achievement for me. My journey has been fulfilling, as I have had the opportunity to work with some outstanding directors from the start,” she shared.
She expressed gratitude for collaborating with renowned filmmakers like Imtiaz Ali, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, and Anubhav Sinha, and is currently working with director Atlee. “Connecting with these directors has been incredibly special for me. I always aspired to reach this level in my career, but my journey is far from over. I am still learning and progressing,” Grewal concluded.
