Maruti Suzuki has expanded its popular hatchback lineup by introducing a new automated manual transmission option for the CNG-powered Swift. The latest mechanical addition brings two-pedal convenience to factory-fitted clean fuel configurations, catering directly to buyers navigating heavy urban traffic daily.
The vehicle retains the dynamic exterior design language and practical cabin layout of its petrol sibling while integrating specialized CNG instrumentation, a dedicated fuel change switch, and a 55-litre boot-mounted tank. This transmission upgrade broadens the model’s appeal alongside simultaneous automatic CNG rollouts for the Dzire and Baleno models.
Maruti Swift CNG Specifications and Features
The Maruti Swift CNG is powered by a Z-Series 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated engine that delivers 70 hp and 102 Nm of torque when running on CNG (and 81.74 hp with 112.4 Nm on petrol). The motor is paired with a 5-speed automated manual transmission, achieving an optimized ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figure of 35.34 km per kg, which edges out its manual counterpart.

Suspension duties are managed by a retuned setup to handle the additional weight, complemented by standard features across its VXi, VXi (O), and ZXi variants such as 15-inch wheels, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, and a full-LED lighting setup.
