New mother and actress Karishma Tanna has opened up about embracing her postpartum body, saying she is proud of the changes her body has undergone after giving birth to her son.
Karishma shared a couple of photographs on Instagram on Saturday, showing her body just weeks after childbirth. She acknowledged that she is currently softer, curvier and out of shape, while stressing that recovery after pregnancy is a gradual process.
The Scoop actress said she has received comments suggesting that she had already returned to her pre-pregnancy shape. While she appreciated the compliments, she said such perceptions do not reflect what her body is going through beneath the surface.
“This is my postpartum body—softer, curvier, out of shape… and I’m embracing every bit of it,” Karishma wrote.
Addressing comments questioning whether her pregnancy had been real, she said genetics also play a role in how different women’s bodies change during and after pregnancy. She described herself as naturally tall, strong and lean, but said that did not mean her body had not undergone a major transformation.
“It created life. It carried my baby. It delivered him. And now, it is healing—slowly and beautifully, in its own time,” she wrote.
Karishma said she was sharing her photographs not to prove anything to anyone but to celebrate what her body had experienced. She said she wears the loose skin, curves and additional weight with pride.
She also urged mothers not to succumb to pressure to quickly regain their pre-pregnancy bodies, emphasising patience and self-kindness during recovery.
“To every mother whose body has changed: don’t let the world rush you, judge you or shame you. We don’t owe anyone a ‘comeback.’ We deserve patience, kindness and immense respect,” she wrote, adding, “This body made a miracle. And I’m so proud of her.”
Karishma and her husband Varun Bangera welcomed their son, Ved, on July 29 this year.
